The slumping mould measured 800mm length x with a surface width of 280mm. The chosen glass for the project was a 3mm vintage seedy green.
In case the mould could not withstand the estimated 10 firings we created a rubber negative of the form, this enabled us to re-create the exact dimensions of the mould if required.
The mould had to be perfect, if there was a slight taper the glass may slip and not slump evenly.
Jigs were created so that when each piece of glass was offered up for the slumping process it could be positioned accurately each time.
Once the components were slumped we used further jigs to locate the positioning of the hole required for installation. Using a diamond bit 2x holes were drilled at each end to enable the glass to be secured to their fixtures on site.
The length & height of the final form would make the pendants relatively fragile requireing the fabrication of a custom box for transportation.
