Using carefully sourced reclaimed materials I create patterns, texture and mood within methodical works which take considerable time and care. Whilst my hands work busily I have an opportunity for my mind to wonder, dream and consider many aspects of life.
This series of Vertebrae necklaces were created using antique African record phono beads and mirrored glass bugle beads threaded upon a cotton/polyester blend chord for extra strength.
I have always found sanctuary in the act of making and feel very privileged to have been gifted a relationship between self and material as part of my everyday existence. I have been making feverishly throughout these COVID times and feel blessed to have creativity at my core. These works are part of what I have titled The Isolation Series.
Vertebrae - each of the series of small bones forming the backbone, having several projections for articulation and muscle attachment, and a hole through which the spinal cord passes.
